Autobiography of Dr. Otto Marquez Mendoza
Introduction
My name is Dr. Otto Marquez Mendoza, and I am a passionate, dedicated physician committed to improving the lives of others through both medical and aesthetic care. My journey into medicine was shaped by my upbringing, my father’s influence, and a deep-rooted desire to serve and heal.
I was born and raised in Havana, Cuba, where my fascination with medicine began at an early age. My father, whose dream was to become a doctor, deeply inspired me. Though he was unable to pursue a medical career himself, he instilled in me a profound respect for the medical profession and a strong sense of purpose. His unwavering commitment to health and well-being became the cornerstone of my own path into medicine.
I began my medical education at the prestigious School of Medicine of Havana, attending from 1990 to 2002. During those years, I immersed myself in rigorous academic study and hands-on clinical training, developing a strong foundation in both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. My fascination with the human body and its remarkable ability to heal and regenerate only grew stronger throughout my studies.
After completing my medical education in Cuba, I moved to the United States and continued my training through a residency at Bella Vista Hospital in Puerto Rico. This phase of my journey was instrumental in refining my clinical expertise and expanding my understanding of a wide range of medical conditions. The experience also introduced me to diverse approaches in patient care, further shaping my philosophy of holistic, patient-centered treatment.
Over the years, I’ve developed a profound interest in both traditional and aesthetic medicine. Working in a medical spa setting has allowed me to not only treat medical concerns but also help patients feel confident and empowered in their own skin. Seeing individuals transform—physically and emotionally—as they achieve their health and aesthetic goals is one of the most rewarding aspects of my profession.
My father’s dream of becoming a doctor may have remained unfulfilled for him, but it lives on through me. His legacy is present in every patient I help, every procedure I perform, and every life I touch. For that, I am eternally grateful.
